ScareMaster Beta Release Notes -------------------------------- NOTE: See bottom of this notice for version details and known issues. This version of the ScareMaster firmware requires an SD card be inside the card slot at all times. If you bought your ScareMaster in 2008 or before then that card must be 2GB or less, an update will be out soon to allow cards above 2GB on these models. Models bought in 2009 already support these cards. To try the beta, download the .zip file, then put all the folders into the root directory of an SD card. Put the card into your BooBox 8s and Flexes to allow them to update their firmware. Then put the card into your ScareMaster. You'll notice the menus have completely changed, the Device Menu is now replaced with a Scene Menu and Show Menu. It's much easier to understand and paves the way for lots of features we've got planned in the future. Some of the new feature's of the BETA ------------------------------------- Forget to Save? Have you ever forgotten to upload your scenes and then disconnected the ScareMaster? Now if that happens the ScareMaster will ask you on power-up if you Forgot To Save? Answer YES and your scenes will be recovered. Servo Support Added Servo support to the BooBox 8. Remember to connect a 5V regulated power supply to the Servo input to power the servos. There is also a Servo HiRange option in the Device Settings menu that will allow your servo to operate over a wider range if it can support it. BooBox 4 Sound Uploading: You can now use the ScareMaster to upload sounds to your BooBox 4. Put the sounds in one of the FI-SHOWS folders and then choose Upload Sounds from your ScareMaster to upload the sounds. Original BooBox Support: The ScareMaster can now be used to program the original BooBox. Simply go into the menu of your old BooBox, select record, select your scene. Then when the BooBox says "Plug in RTP", connect the ScareMaster and it will automatically detect the BooBox and function exactly as the old BooBox Real-Time Programmer did. Multiple Sub-Scenes: Each Ambient and Input scene can now have up to eight sub-scenes. Your controller will increment through the next available scene each time it's triggered. To select a sub-scene, hold the PLAY button to bring up the scene-selection menu, then use the sliders to choose your scene and sub-scene. Save Shows: You can now save the animation data from your props onto the SD card in your ScareMaster for safe keeping or easy duplication. Once you've mastered your show, go to the Save Show menu and select a folder to save your show. Tips: Forget one of the key shortcuts to Upload to device, or change scenes? Just hold ENABLE and tips will start displaying on the LCD. Record Punch-In: Have you ever recorded a long scene and made a mistake right at the end and don't want to have to do the whole thing over? Now you can just punch-in right at the point you want to fix. Hit PLAY to play the scene, then when you get to the point where you'd like to start recording, hold REC and the ScareMaster will switch immediately into REC mode. Let go of REC when you want it to switch back to PLAY mode. Fixed Length: In the Scene Menu you'll see a new option called Fixed Length. If you don't want to have to worry about overrunning the end of your scene then before you start just set your scene to be a fixed length. Recording will automatically stop at that point every time. This is especially useful when programming scenes with lots of DMX. Version 0.9D BETA ----------------- Known Issues: There is no warning when exceeding the memory limit of a device.
