Updating Your ScareMaster

IMPORTANT
1. Some earlier versions of the ScareMaster firmware did not require an SD card to be inserted during normal operation. All newer versions do. If you are upgrading from one of these versions, you'll need a new SD card you can dedicate to ScareMaster use.
2. Earlier versions of the ScareMaster firmware can only be used with SD cards 2GB or smaller. If your ScareMaster was purchased before 2009 then this is likely the case. Be sure the SD card you buy is 2GB maximum. In the future we will offer an update that will remove this restriction.

Updating the Firmware

Depending on your situation the update process will be different. Please select one option from the list below.

My ScareMaster DOES NOT currently need an SD Card inserted for programming

Download the ScareMaster Combo Update.zip file. Extract the .zip file and copy the FI-XXX folders to the root of an SD card. When you open up the card to see the contents you should immediately see the FI-200, FI-SHOWS, etc. folders. They cannot be inside another folder.

My ScareMaster DOES need an SD Card AND I DO have shows in my FI-SHOWS folder I need to keep.

1. Download the ScareMaster Combo Update.zip file. Extract the .zip file and copy only the FI-200 folder to your SD card, replacing the one that currently exists.

2. Go into your FI-SHOWS folder, and then into any one of the show folders inside. If you see an AMBIENT, INPUT1, and possibly more folders, you're in the right place. Along with the folders just mentioned, there should also be a SETTINGS.BIN file. If there's not, you'll need to download it from here and copy it into ALL of your show folders.

Erase all the files on your card then refer to the first option My ScareMaster DOES NOT currently need an SD Card inserted for programming
